GRATITUDE has the ability to change your entire life!

Carla Shellis

Gratitude has the ability to not just alter a minute, or an hour, or a day, but YOUR WHOLE LIFE! According to the Mayo Clinic “ Expressing gratitude is associated with a host of mental and physical benefits. Studies have shown that feeling thankful can improve sleep, mood, and immunity. Gratitude can decrease depression, anxiety, difficulties with chronic pain, and risk of disease.”

The benefits that gratitude has on the well-being of your life are truly unrivaled. Gratitude not only affects the way that your feel mentally and physically, but allows you to become a better leader at work and partner in relationships and friendships.

As stated in the article Giving thanks can make you happier from Harvard Health Publishing, managers who thank their employees at work have better success with keeping their employees motivated and working harder.

Another study reviewed in the article Giving thanks can make you happier from Harvard Health Publishing took couples that expressed gratitude to one another and analyzed their relationships. They believe that couples that continuously expressed gratitude to each other felt more positive about the other person, and not only that, they felt more willing to express concerns with one another.

If you’re looking to improve your life, health, and relationships gratitude is a great pathway to start looking down.

Here are three exercises that will help you produce more gratitude throughout your life.

  1. When you wake up in the morning, automatically think of someone you’re grateful for. Then, speak their name out loud and write their name down in a gratitude journal.

  2. Make these confessions out loud: I am grateful in everything I do, I give thanks to God for all that he’s doing in my life, and I express gratitude every few minutes of my day, Thank you God for not letting me walk this life alone.

  3. Create one behavior that expresses gratitude to those you love, yourself, or the world around you. This could be texting a friend letting them know how grateful you are for them, cleaning the space you live in, bringing your coworker a cup of coffee, meditate on a Bible verse that speaks gratitude and thankfulness.

Gratitude has the power to change your life. When you start living by this, you’ll see how much your life changes!
